Well, what a busy 12 months it has been! - from last July's Tour de France on Bishy Road where we won 'Best Dressed local Street' and the rollercoaster that was our entry in the Great British High Street Competition followed by the Bishy Road Illuminations evening, the York Press Community Pride evening where Bishy Road Traders won the 'Service with a Smile' Award followed by my contribution to the DCLG conferences (Department for Communitys and Local Government).
In my neighbourhood, there never sems to be a dull moment;
And that's exactly why I love Micklegate Ward.
Just when you thought that the Tour de France was a one-off in York, it was soon announced that the Tour de Yorkshire would yet again grace our streets; So, it was down with the Winter Illuminations last month and up with the bunting; And so begin our plans for 2nd May - a Yorkshire themed Street Party on Bishopthorpe Road, running alongside the Tour de Yorkshire excitement.
To top it all, Bishy Road had a very special visitor last week in the form of 'Welcome to Yorkshire' CEO Gary Verity himself. http://www.yorkshire.com
Not only did Gary unveil our new Community noticeboard, he also presented me with a Points of Light Award from 10 Downing Street for my contribution to our local community and neighbourhood.
