I was elected as one of three Councillors on
7th May 2015, along with
Julie Gunnell (Labour) and Lars Kramm (Green)
Here are the details
Here are some of my own thoughts on a range of issues that I think are important:-
-
Education; To ensure that all children have access to quality education.
-
Jobs and business; To maximize the huge potential of this lovely City. To maximize opportunities for local jobs, particularly for young people.
-
Transport and getting about; To improve our ability to get about in a congested City. To improve facilities for pedestrians, bikes and buses. To have realistic aims for roads and road users.
-
Housing; To encourage the supply of affordable housing.
-
Environment; To ensure green spaces are sustained. To make sure that waste is dealt with efficiently and effectively and that services are sustained. To encourage low emission transport.
-
Community safety; To ensure that people can feel safe in their neighbourhood through adequate policing and community involvement.
-
The elderly; To make sure that elderly people are always considered and provided for. Making sure that they do not feel alienated by the modern world.
-
I really care about this Ward and its communities.
The important thing is not just my views but the views of the people who live in Micklegate Ward. Listening and knowing what people are thinking are the crucial factors. Then trying to do your best to make sure that our community voice is heard. Sometimes taking the lead but sometimes stepping back and listening to what you are being told. Below, you will find my letter to Micklegate Ward residents
